I hope we all can stick to it. I also need to stick to having Parker do more for himself. He needs to dress himself, help make his bed, wash his hands more and help out around the house a little. I treat him more like a baby more than I should. Today I had him set the table with me. He seemed to like it. I had Molly help cook dinner too. We are having spagetti and biscuts.

If the schedule works I'd like to hear more about it. :)
Hugs!
Schedules are good! Just some unsolicited advice from one Autism Mom to another...take it slow with making Parker do a lot for himself if he hasn't been going up until now. It's always good to encourage self-help skills, but stopping summer school and then having to be responsible significantly more than he has been is a lot of CHANGE all at once. Take it slow? Just my thoughts- I'll shut up now! Hugs your way!
Julie
Sorry, hope you don't mind what I said!
Julie, don't worry, I'll take it slow. He already knows how to dress himself and he likes helping with chores. You can't push Parker to do anything he doesn't want to.
I meant to add, this schedule is more for me so he just doesn't veg out on the t.v. or the computer all day. I'm including craft time, play time with Mom, movie time with sissy and reading time with Mom. All this stuff he will love. He is very structured at school so it's actually healthy for him to structure at home. The chore he's going to help with more is picking up his toys. Or helping me do dishes, which he loves. All this stuff we've already implimated, I just keep getting lazy about doing it. We taught him how to dress himself, but I always do it because I'm in a hurry. Now I need to start letting him do some of this. As for helping make his bed, all he has to do is help pull the covers up. I think you might be getting the wrong idea of our schedule. Really, it will be more fun for him and more for him to do with me than anything. Thanks for be concerned. I can see how it might look like I would be pushing him too hard if you didn't know the whole story.
"You can't push Parker to do anything he doesn't want to."
Oh, my gosh, that made me laugh because I know exactly what that is like! Your schedule sounds awesome. It's the same, here, when I get lazy or too laid back with the structure of our day, Daniel is the one who suffers.
Have a fun remainder of the summer together! :D
Yeah let us know how that goes!!
